Healing is not the externals, what you weigh, what you look like, or how many days between binges. Healing is not about the mind, the intellect, rationalization – coming up with rational reasons why you’re lovable or good or kind.
Intellect, will power, and rationalization are not the problem and not the answer.
The answer arises within your heart. This is where we heal. What do you believe about yourself? Who do you think you are? Do you believe in your inherent worth, your loveliness, your goodness? Or do you blame yourself for all the “flaws” or challenges or pain in your life?
Healing is knowing your own loveliness, right down into the hollow of your bones; into every cell, into that cracked, broken aching hole in your heart that seeks, over and over, to find that fulfillment in sugar, in food, in something…
Healing is looking at that broken, aching hole and caring for it with such compassion, such tenderness, such kindness instead of blaming yourself for having it in the first place.
