Obstacles are part of the journey. Things don’t always go as planned. Snafus pop up. You find yourself in less than ideal situations – a birthday party with sugar everywhere; a lunch left at home; a travel delay – and you wonder, “What do I do now? How do I honor my intention not to eat sugar in this situation?”
Obstacles can feel derailing. It’s easy to turn to despair – it’s all going to pot! – and then to sugar. They’re often frustrating.
I invite you to view your obstacles as normal and natural. They’re not proof you’re doing anything wrong, they just happen – in fact, they occur regularly! – and they happen to all of us.
What if you viewed your obstacles as opportunities?
How are your obstacles opportunities? They force you to grow, adapt, to become more flexible. Like a plant that goes through seasons of drought, frost, wind, and rain, you may find that a bit of challenge on your journey makes you hardier. Stronger. More resilient.
The precious, precious inherent gift of obstacles is a faith that has been tested by trial. It’s the unshakable faith of, “My heart is big enough.” My heart is big enough for whatever storms or obstacles arise…. You trust – because you’ve lived it – that you can rise, and rise and rise, again and again and again….
Your heart is bottomless. I invite you to view your obstacles as an opportunity, yes, yes! to grow your heart muscle so that it beats stronger, and stronger and stronger…
